Gift Ideas

Gift for the Honeymoon

For a lot of couples, the honeymoon will immediately follow the wedding, so a gift that somehow ties into the honeymoon can be both nice and useful. A camera or lenses they can take great pictures with, an upgrade on their tickets so that they can fly or cruise first class, or even just a guidebook with a gift-worthy parcel of money hidden between the pages: all of these can make excellent gifts.

Simple but Useful Gifts

Money is a standard wedding gift in a lot of cultures, and as long as you don’t make the money an insultingly small amount, can be a nice gift for a new couple. If giving cash isn’t your thing, sometimes purchasing the ability for them to do some sort of activity can be a the way to go: cooking classes, customized tours of a nearby city or spot in the country (wineries, etc.), or even gift certificates so that they both go to a spa or get a couples massage. For the more culturally inclined, a set of season tickets to a local theatre or a membership to a museum that they would enjoy attending can be thoughtful and gun wedding gift ideas.

Quirky Gifts

For the couple that you know well enough, a gift that shows you know them can go a long way, especially if they didn’t think to include it on their registry. Purchasing a nice record player for a music aficionado, or a well assembled BBQ Kit for a friend who loves to cook, are both thoughtful gifts. Likewise, for friends who have wanted to get a little bit more exercise, Ninetendo’s Wii Fit can be a good gift, or even a membership to a nearby gym. For those fans of art, or those given to hipster sensibilities, a retro-classic wall portrait done in the style of a famous painting can be a nice gift. And for others, a personalized bottle of liquor, not to be opened until some pre-set special occasion can work wonder. A variety of indoor gardens are available on the market, allowing herbs or others plants to be grown from ornate pots indoors: the gift of a green thumb is just what some people need.

Regardless of what sort of gift you buy, make sure it speaks for you, make sure they can use it, and make sure it doesn’t break the bank for you.

Great article! Adding to the quirky gifts category, there's also places online that personalize items for you to give to the couple. An example is here: http://www.weddingfavorsunlimited.com/For_The_Coup

or you can just do a google search for personalized wedding gifts and I'm sure lots more will come up!
